Default recon going trough mud

yeah, I thought so. And plus with all that power I would probally not be able to handle all the power of a 1000cc engine.LOL. hey in about two years i will be ready to move on to a new quad i will be 15 then and aroun 150lbs would i be able to handle a 400ex? and right now would i be able to handle a raptor 350. how deep of mud have you had your recon in? I have had mine in about 2 feet of water.

The biggest issue with younger riders and bigger quads is getting used to the manual clutch. If you can use a manual clutch you can probably ride a 350 or 400 without much trouble. They have throttle limiter screws, so you can detune the power until you get used to it if you need to, and they weigh less than your recon so the size won't be an issue.

I've had my recon through mud and water so deep that I had to stand on the rear rack and wheelie all the way through it to keep the intake above the waterline, but I don't recommend that becasue if you drop the wheelie you're screwed, even if you shut the engine off before the water gets pulled through the intake it'll still get in. Seat height is about the highest I would recommend, or below the exhaust if you want to be safer.

I had a akuma 200cc manual clutch before my recon and i was good with that quad till it got stolen.:{ I am going to save my money up and get the tire combo you recomended. Do you have to have a special type of rim to powder coat or can you do it with any rim. The reason I wanted to know is because If i can do it with any rim I will just powder coat my stock rims in stead of geting new ones

You can get any kind of wheel powdercoated. Powdercoating the stock wheels will make them look better, but they are still ugly @ss wheels no matter what you do.

yeah. i think honda cheaped out on the rims on a recon. they dent to easy. have you wheelied the recon. the only way i know how to do a wheelie is to pop the clutch up then rev it high and let the clutch down. but if i keep on doing this i know i will brake the shaft right. any other ways to ride a wheelie for more than two feet

I never had any trouble riding 2nd gear wheelies with my recon, without slamming it into gear. I'm 5'11 and 185 though, having more weight to throw around is an advantage for wheelies. If you can't get it up in 2nd just from pulling back and giving it a burst of throttle, you probably just don't weigh enough to pull it up. Try doing it with one foot on the rear rack above the taillight, and the other foot on the peg, or even both feet on the rear rack, then you'll definitely be able to pull it up. You can pull on the rear brake lever to get the nose back down if you get past your balance point, but don't be afraid to stand it up on the rear rack, you won't go over backwards unless you're on a slope, you'll just scuff up the paint a little.

thanks for the tips!I was just out riding in the rain because i live where there are alot of hills and I dont ever get to ride any mud so i found this flt part and a little place where the rain was about 2 to 4 inches deep and there was mud so i was playin in it. I have always seen pics of quads straight up stadding on the racks or grab bars and i could never figure how they did that with out it tippin. where your sur tracks good mud tires because when i was riding my stock tires did fine till they get full with mud then they dont have any traction and i get stuck. so what i am trying to ask is did they have good clean out and what about the front tires?

The sur-tracs had perfect cleanout because of how far apart the lugs are spaced, and from what I remember the front tires did good too. They could really throw up some nice rooster tails in the mud too, I was launching mud like 12 feet over my head with those things before.

those are some pretty sweet picks. I have to ask you a question will plastics for a 250ex fit a honda recon. I was just thinkin they both have the same engine, frame and rim and tire size so why woulnt plastics fit?
