recon going trough mud
#121
I dont really like mx all that much. I might even try a mud bog ot two, once i get the sur-traks! Would a bore kit for a 250ex fit a recon? Today I raced a warrior with a DG pipe I got a little bit of a head start I beet him in to 3rd but then he flew past me,those things are fast!! I am going to enter a drag or two

I can't say for sure about the engine components being interchangable with the 250ex. I thought they were originally, but when I got my recon rebuilt the shop owner did some research and told me that the top end specs were different, and that ex parts wouldn't work. A honda dealer would be able to tell you better, but I still think it's the same.

Thats sucks,I wish people could make as many parts for a 250ex for a recon! Does any one offer a disc brake covversion for a recon? The reason I asked is because I like to go in to deep water andonce i get out my front brakes dont work.I squeeze the lever and i keep on rolling at the same speed.

You can use 250ex spindles, rotors, lines, calipers, and master cylinder as a disc brake conversion, they fit the same. You might not even need the 250ex's master cylinder, i'm not sure though. (you would also need to get front wheels with the honda sport quad lug pattern)

In my opinion it's not worth spending that much money on a recon. It's a good beginner quad, but eventually any semi-aggressive rider is going to get bored of the mild performance and end up trading it in on a faster one anyways. My suggestion is to save the money and when the recon starts to lose the fun factor you'll have some money put away to trade the recon in on a real sport quad. I'm speaking from experience, because my brother is getting bored from his 250ex that he already invested $1000 in, and that $1000 would have been enough with the trade in to get a z400 or raptor 660, which is superior in every aspect (except fuel mileage and reliability). I have to say i'm sort of experiencing the same thing with my warrior, with the money I paid for it plus the money I put into mods I could have easily bought a fully race ready 250r or a stock 450r or yfz. Looking back, I know I would have been better off to just leave the warrior stock, and save the money so when the warrior started to get boring I could trade it in along with the money I saved. Now i've got to the point that I would take too big of a loss to trade it in, so I guess i'm going to keep on modding the warrior and make it do what I want it to. It'll cost me more money in the end, but it is EXTREMELY satisfying when my "old slow tank" whoops up on piped z400s and 400exs and leaves their owners with a tear in their eye and a quivering lip as they try to figure out what just happened.

lol. I think all i might want to do is put a pipe on with some new tires. The recon willgo about any where a sport quad could go.It might not be as fast or cant climb hills that go straight up but it still holds it own

The exhaust is worth it if you're mainly doing it for the sound, but if you're doing it for power gains it's probably not worth the money, becuase you're only going to gain 1 hp, or 2 at the most.
New tires are a worthwhile investment on almost any quad, definitely with the recon's stock baloon tires, the traction sucks, tread life isn't very good, and the puncture resistance is terrible. I once got a hole in 3 of the 4 stock tires in the same ride, one of the front ones had 3 holes in it by the end of the day, that's when I got the new ones, and never had a single leak after that.
