I've got a Rancher ES coming into the shop and i beleive its a 2000. And it is stuck in reverse. But when you push the gas the engine revs up but it doesn't move the machine. ANyone have any thoughts? Any input would be great thanks.

 

Did he just do an oil change? Did the filter get put in backwards? or is it too low on oil?
Then id check the adjustment on the clutch. Will it shift back into nuetral with the emergency lever?

 

I don't know any of that info yet? But i will check that when i get it here. Thanks for the info. Hopefully the problem is that simple.

 

I got that rancher in the shop. I can't shift it maunally and it doesn't even make any noise when i push the shift buttons.

 

If you can't shift it manually, your problem is mechanical. If the reduction gears are ok for the shift motor, you'll have to remove the front engine cover and check the gearshift linkage. There was a gearshift update for the older 350 Ranchers. The gearshift plate would break and not allow the tranny to shift. If I were a bettin' man, I'd put my money on it.
