300 TRX Starter???
#1
Hi all Ive got a question reguarding the starter on my honda trx 300. My son tried to start it up after it sat all winter and couldnt get it fired up, he told me it was cranking over just not starting, so I went out and checked it out and it cranked over once or twice and then the electrical system just went dead. So i charged the battery up and retried it with the same result. Ive got 12.5 volts on the battery and I even tried a brand new battery. But I still cant get it to crank over. All I can hear is the starter solenoid relay firing when the start button is pressed. Does it sound like the starter is shot and whats all involved in replacing it? Thanks for your help

Use a test light to check voltage. Put the test light on the starter post, if it lights up your starter needs servicing. Disassemble and check the bruses, armature, etc. If the starter isn't getting voltage and the solenoid is clicking, the solenoid is the culprit.
