Default Power kit for 02 Recon

I was thinking of buying a ATV Power kit for my sons 02 recon. I contains a K&N filter and prefilter, and a complete recalibration jet kit including : jets, needle, springs and shims. It is supposed to give it more HP and throttle response ? Someone told me I would also need to replace the muffler to let it breath better. I do not want to make it louder because he ride at our home also. Thanks

you dont have to replace it but it would help it get more power. Thiers quiet performace mufflers out also. I put a stage 1 jetkit on my rancher with a uni air filter and gained some good power.

I hogged out my snorkle and changed the main jet to a 115 me thinks. You'll be burning oil sooner than later if you install the K&N - ain't worth it, they DO NOT trap the micro dust particles not even with the large particle prefilter (don't waste your time arguing). Stick with the stock foam and foam filter oil. The restriction is not in the air filter itself, it's the actual intake. Don't be fooled.

I had to play around with the jet a bit. It is very finiky. I think I may have changed the position of the needle as well but cannot remember. I could check for you if you like. The jet is for WOT and the needle position helps in the transition between Mid and WOT. It also depends on what your elevation is, or where you'll be riding most.

The results were excellent nevertheless. I gained some good torque but because of the rev limiter you don't see any speed increase, just get there faster and pull up the hills better. Oh and spin the Razr2's better

Hope this helps,
