95 trx 300 needing a lock nut wrench for the gear box
need some help locating a tool to remove the 60mm lock nut from the gear box on my trx 300. i destroyed the bearing in the gear box and can't figure out how to get it out with out some special tool. any tips out there on rebuilding my rear end or where i can get my hands on a lock nut wrench? thanks - dana

What locknut on what gear box? The only nut I can think of thats anywhere near 60mm is the locknuts for the axle. You ask about rebuilding the rear end so I'm assuming the axle locknut is what your referring to. Honda has two special tools that fit the axle nut and lock nut but can be removed w/ a cresent wrench. I can get you the part numbers for the tools Saturday, I'm off tomorrow.

You can get it OFF with the knuckle busters, but that beast can't be properly reinstalled without the specialty honda tool and a torque wrench. With the tool, you know exactly how much the torque is multiplied by (the lever length), so you can calculate how to set/read your wrench. my $.02. You could always make a one-time-user with steel plate and an angle grinder [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif[/img]
