angle sensor
#2
I just had the sensor replaced in my Rancher ES. What a freeking nighmare that was. If you are having shifting problems like the tranny getting stuck in gear or not shifting when you try to then look for the sensor to be the problem. I tired cleaning the contacts but the problem remained. Also you will see a blinking dash mark where the gear number is displayed on the dash. Count the number of blinks. If there are three then it's most likely the sensor. You can try cleaning the contacts on the sensor like I did but that didn't work well. I made the mistake of not replacing it myself and took it to the dealer where I bought it against the advice of several friends. Well today, almost three weeks and $350.00 later, I finally got it back after I pitched a bitch with the manager. When I took it in I told them I thought it was the sensor. They called back the next day and confirmed it. They had to order one from LA which would take three days. When I went to pick it up I could not believe how bad it ran and wouldn't shift. Obviously the clown who worked on it didn't test drive it. I refused to take it and left it. I'm sure he either got a faulty sensor or maybe bent one of the prongs installing it. Took almost 2 weeks to figure out the problem which I was not told. I will never go to that dealer again and follow my buddies advice from now on. This is the second "large" dealer in my area who dosen't have qualified mechanics. Enough ranting. The sensor is very easy to replace. Do it yourself.
