well, if you had to choose just between those two, i would go with the rancher, simply because i hate belt drive automatics. If the belt gets wet, it will slip. I like the manual gearbox so you can select your gear, especially for technical riding, that way you know what ratio the transmission is in.

If you want something a little more sporty, maybe look into a used wolverine 350, the old style. They had a manual gearbox and 4wd, and had some nice ground clearance.
