Default Rubicon Shift problems - See details (help please)

One slight add to this story...

Im not sure what makes up a gear position sensor but it does NOT appear to be well made or at all durable. (radio shack would cull it) Anyone else been bitten by this POS?

Default Rubicon Shift problems - See details (help please)

Help....My 2000 Rubicon is great but I have been experiencing some problems wondering if anyone has any ideas.
It started in the winter after putting tracks on it. The dash blinks but no code thought it was getting wet so I siliconed all the connections no change....Took it the dealer they cleared the computer thought it was fixed, but it continues, before it would blink and than you had to wait for a while than it would clean up. When it acted up and put it in reverse it would act like it was running out of gas... After the dealer cleared the computer it still blinks but now you shut it off put it in neutral it is fine.... Until it happens again......Any suggestions ......

Anyone know about this........

4 wheeler will not shift in ESP or D1 and d2, (seems like it's stuck in one of the gears)

magnet in control motor busted so we replaced this with a new one but problem above still exists.

when you first turn the key on, the screen is solid but flashes none stop after starting

backfires and spits and sputters when trying to back up.

does anyone know how to tell me how to diagnose and fix these problems.

PLEASE and thank you!

Sounds like your gear position sensor problem but I hade some what of the same thing happen. The connector on the left side rear tire. A 4 pin connector is the plug for the sensor take it apart you will find the one of the pins is black in color (caroded) you can take this out if you release the lock, clean up test, fill with electrical grease same with all the others sence you have the plastic off.
