Default Help no spark

I have a 1987 honda 200 fourtrax The problem started last year when it wouldnt start i just wiggled the cdi box and it would start. This year it wont start at all, (NO SPARK) assuming it was a connection issue (ussally is) I went through all the wiring making SURE I had PERFECT connections. Grounds are fine. Still no spark so although not likely I bought a cdi, It didnt help then bought a coil wasnt it either. So i guess Im down to the stator coils (theres 8 of them) or what im assuming is the pick up coil (a little black box mounted next to the flywheel but not part of the stator) I guess my question is, Is that all thats left and if so does anbody know how to test them so I dont keep buying parts that dont help.

Thanks.. Hope someone can help.

If I was you, i would test the stator and the pulse gererator before buting them and putting them in. Remember, diagnose first, then replace whats needed, not the other way around. It is alot cheaper that way.

Mechanics call it a pick-up coil, honda calles it a pulse generator, but yes it is next to your flywheel and tells the cdi where TDC is. You can check your stator to see if it is generating power, but exactly how much, you will have to look at a manual for that. The pulse generator usually you can check with an ohm meter and turn the motor over slow and see if the reading fluctuates. It should change every time the piston reaches TDC. Dou you have any wiring diagrams for your ignition system? have you checked to see if your kill switch is grounded out somewhere? Or possibly a key switch grounded out?
