Default Honda Odyssey fuel mix

Hey i got a 1980 honda odyssey with the 250 engine in it. The factory says to run a 20:1 fuel mix I think that this is way to heavy since it smokes ALOT when its cold. I was wondering if anyone has run a more light fuel mixture.

I run 32:1 in my CR500, 20:1 is WAY too heavy. I have friends that even run 50:1, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Ps. Alot of smoke when cold is a sure sign of a crank oil seal and collar, cheap and very easy to fix. Does it bog down anywhere in the throttle range?

I have a '79 and have always ran Torco GP-7 and mixed it at 40:1

20:1 was for conventional oils, not synthetics.

It does not bog down anywhere in the throttle range and I just usually run motomaster 2 stroke angine oil that can be used in any 2 stroke motor.

What does it mean when it bogs down in the upper range after holding full throttle for a while down a straight. Its almost like it runs out of fuel, let up on it and the throttle comes back and bogs after opening full again???????

Thanks

I had a problem similar to that and the solution was a new fuel filter it turned out my tank had some rust in it.

Your main jet is too small. It is leaning out at WOT. go up one size and that should take care of it.

I ran 32:1 (4oz oil per gal) in my old Odyssey and never had any problems. I used the BEL-RAY MC-1 oil.

Could be a clogged fuel filter?

I run 40:1 with 94 oct and havnt had a prob. With good oil, 40:1 is perfect mix anything more is a waste of oil and power.
