2005 Electronic Shift Problem
#1
The gear indicator on my 2005 350ES periodically flashes five times hesitates, flashes five, hesitates, and continues doing this.
When it does this I cannot use the electronic shift to change gears.
Sometimes it does it when I crank it, sometimes it does it when I'm riding.
My Honda dealer has made "adjustments" and replaced a part, but it continues to do it. I have had the ATV for 8 months, it's been in the shop two months, and I've had to ride it using the manual shift for 1/4 of the time I ride it.
Any suggestions?

Id take it back to the dealership. The "fix" didnt work, and they are still on the hook for fixing it.
Its programed to not allow es shifts when it senses a fault code, and 5 flashes ,points to the ecu motor driver unit circuit.
For now, id have them dig into it. They have the service manuals, and the troubleshooting guide to find out whats wrong.
You could try to take the connectors apart, and make sure they are dry inside, and not corroded.

Thanks.
It's still under warranty so I keep taking it back to Honda (1+ hours round trip). They replaced the ECU and thought they had fixed it. I took it home, took it off the trailer, drove it for five minutes, and then it would not shift again.
Took it back to them and it worked fine when I started it and backed it off the trailer. Drove around in the parking lot for 30 seconds and it started blinking again.
Very frustrating........

I Boyz.....I'm having sort of the same problem. I have had my 05 Rubicon in the shop enough times to have seven angle sensors replaced. ... "thank goodness for extended warranties"... It did some of the same stuff yours was doing. I finally called Honda and logged a recurring complaint. "Honda Customer Service # 1-866-784-1870 "
Abernathy's in Union City gave me the number. I'm now waiting for a Honda rep to call me. The Lady at Customer Service said a Honda Rep would call me in about 4 days...I'm waiting for that call now.... Last Saturday I brought my Ruby home and it lasted 2 miles and started flashing 5 times ...AGAIN..... The only thing I can do is post here what the Rep says when he calls................
