Default Honda Recon ES 2005 (Winch Placement)

I know the 4 wheeler is only a 2wd, but its still fun so I wanna put this winch on so I can pull others out and pull me out when stuck. Coulda used it last weekend, but didn't have it then :/. I just went and bought me a Champion 2000lb Winch for $44! It was marked at $86 but when I went to the register it rang out as $44 and I just walked right out the door smiling with my new winch in my hands. Its the newer version with the black control instead of yellow. On my recon I was waundering about were people place their winches. I was thinking just under the headlights, but the way it sits I would be afraid wires would get ripped off from a stick tire comes very close to it. Just waundering if I could get pictures of their Recon ES of were they mounted their winch. I was thinking about making some sort of bracket I could transfer it to front and rear rack so that I could pull myself out either way. I am working on an idea for that just not sure if the racks are strong enough to pull me out of a bit of mud. I won't be getting it buried to the top of the tire just maybe up to the axle max if that.

Just pictures of anyones winch mount will help me get ideas if someone wants to help. I don't really wanna fork out $100 for a mounting kit. I would rather just take a look at the mounting kit and duplicate instead of buying it.

well i am thinking of getting one for myself, i have an 04 recon (get stuck alot) and i have seen ramesy and warn mounting plates at ebay, rockymountainatv.com but i have never heard of champion winches and that might be why a mounting plate might be so pricey

You don't need a winch specific mounting plate. It may be because I am looking at more of a universal plate is why, but I was looking at a few different ones different brands. It really shouldn't matter which brand I get because they all mount pretty much the same way. If not I will drill a hole. Champion winch actually looks like most other winches. I have read alot of reviews and they all seem to be good. I finally found a PDF displaying what it looks like and how it mounts. I am thinking about just buying what I need and making my own. I am only gonna have problem with 1 of the plates that mounts to the front how they mount it. Other than that its a simple mount actually.
