Rubicon Tire
#1
I removed a 3/8" piece of a stick from my ITP 589 tire (I assume it's 6 ply) it went in at an angle and the tire does not appear to be leaking but now I'll be concerned it will go flat at the worst possible time. What's the best repair? I've been reluctant to "Slime" the tires because I don't know what that stuff will do to my aluminum wheels. Could I "slime" one tire with no ill effects? Suggestions, please.

The best thing to do is to have plugs with you while riding to do a quick fix, then take the tire to a garage and see if they can have it vulcanized(thinks thats what it called), if not that they clear off a spot around the hole then melt some rubber to fill in the hole.

I have 3 plugs in the side wall of one of my rear tires now. The hole was about an inch long. The have been in there about 4 months with no leaks. Plugs work fantastic, even in a side wall. I carry 4 packs and slime with me now when ever I ride. As far as slime goes, it works great. But I haven't had the tire changed since adding it. When I do I'm sure the person changing it will be pissed. It works good but makes a sticky mess.
