hrc kit 450r 2006***
The HRC kit will work for any application. If you ride trails and tend to ride through mud puddles (no airbox lid) and also you are looking for maximum reliability then the HRC kit is NOT for you. The more power you add to your quad, the more unreliable it will be in general. The biggest reasons why they are going over to four strokes is emissions. As they bring out new models that have more power they will tend to become higher maintenance. Keep your quad stock if your biggest thing is reliability. Personally, I am addicted to more power and am willing to maintain more for it. I didn't buy my quad for transportation, I have my Honda civic for that. I bought for adrenaline rush. Hope this helps.

i am trying to stop the adreniline rush somewhat because my body is not healing all the way anymore unfortunatly. but with your quad, you said that you don't mind the maintnence, how much is the top end kit for that quad, or rings and a gasket kit. it is not like paying for a 2 stroke top end, 75$. that is the big worry, i don't mind a little maitnence, but i was under the impression that the top end was in the 700$ range for everything. that is way expensive. i also have not gotton brave enough to rip into the motor of mine yet. i also heard that you need special tools from honda to do certain maitnence. so i guess the real factor is how much more diffeficult and expensive is the maitnence once you start putting the hrc kit in it or other types of mods.
thanks for the feedback dunefool.

Piston $85
Rings $30
Intake valves (2) $100
Head gasket $30
Misc. seals and gaskets $25
Just approximate numbers. For my build, I will do all of these every year. It all depends on how much and how hard you ride ofcoarse. Mine has about 3-4 more horse than an HRC kitted 450R. For piston and rings there are no special tools required.
