How do you reset the computer on a 1999 rancher?

I know there is a way to reset the computer on the Ranchers, I am just not sure how to do it. I am having trouble shifting and the display has went out. Does anyone know how to reset it?

the computer resets everytime the key is turned off. If that's not working, try unplugging the battery overnight, if that doesnt work it will need dealer service

The ECU does not reset everything the key is shut off. It will hold codes until the system is reset

To reset the system on the 99 turn the key switch on and hold both up and down shift buttons for 3 to 8 seconds. Turn the key switch off, then turn it back on.
