why do sport machines get bad names

I think the 2-strokes are being phased out mainly because of all the emissions/polution crap. And, I think when people see others on sport quads haulin a$$ down the trails, spinning tires, doing jumps and other tricks, they think we are riding carelessly, and are tearing up the trails and nature. I think for the most part it falls along the 'damn kids' train of though...

People think 2-strokes = polution. In my quads owner's manual, it states that the emissions can cause cancer?!?! Imagine an over zealous "ATV-Hater" reading that!
Plus most people who buy sportquads play around more and appear to be more careless and reckless.
Unfortunately, Image is everything!

I don't understand it either. Most of the utility/4x4 atv riders buy them for one reason: to go mudding. Now that'll tear up more land in one day of riding than I do all year blazing down trails.
I ride around mud puddles even. Ever since my own money goes into repairs. Brakes, bearings, sprockets and chains will wear out faster if your always pounding thru mud holes. And you've got a better chance to get dirt in your engine. I think atleast 50% of sport riders feel the same way as I do. But as soon as people see us popping wheelies and jumping, we are a danger.
I've only got one gripe about 4x4 utility quad owners. If they enjoy mudding and what have ya, great. Just don't whine or throw up a fist at me when I want to go around you on a trail. My machine is capable of, and I like to ride at a higher speed. I've never ran a person off of the trail or anything. I always wait until they know i'm back there and wait til there is ample room to get around them. I just wish they would repect my machines speed and my ability alittle more.

yes i think the 2-strokes are unbeatable they have em in most dirtbikes and polaris quads
i plan on geting a banshee for my next quad or a 250r or a quadzilla, i like the power of the 2-strokes , and i do think it has 2 do with people on racers look like there driving wreckless when there flying up the side of a dune or jumping off a 45footer jump.

I happen to be a little of both myself. I also used to hate sport riders because of some bad experiences.
Example: Your putting down a trail and this totally modded Blaster with a 15 year old (no offense to young riders)is pushing you in the rear end to get by...that's frustrating! Like one of you said, you wait and pass when it is possible. Don't pi$$ people off for the fun of it.
Or at my fishing/hunting camp, there is this guy who comes once per summer with a piped Warrior. I kid you not, we can hear his damn quad over 2 miles away! You have to know when and where to ride a certain type of quad. Common sense.
Now I too enjoy riding fast but still respect slower riders and mudders..I join in also!
There is really nothing like barreling down a twisty trail at 60mph though!
