Default Skid Plates

Looking for opinions on plastic skid plates for 01 Rubicon. What about the Maier ? I do not ride rocks or really ruff areas. Use this ATV to and from the deer stand and to retrieve down game. Thanks

I have used Maier (http://www.maier-mfg.com/) on several different quads over the years, especially when I wanted to keep things very light. One great thing is that plastic is very slick, and doesn't hang up on rocks like aluminum will. And in the snow, the slick plastic skid acts like a huge ski, and floats you along on the surface.

The only drawback is that some of the aluminum skids are beveled on the edges, so they give some additional protection from the side for the frame rails. The plastic skids are flat, and even though they are wider than the rails, they still don't have quite the same degree of protection from a side impact.

Another alternative. I have never used these, but they look pretty good: http://www.atvtires.ca/ARMORDILLO%20...SKIDPLATES.htm
