'01 Recon Stalls Going Uphill
#1
New guy here. Any help appreciated. I have a 2001 Recon that has not been used for awhile.
Iceaned the carb (twice). Runs, but seems weak, power wise. My worst problem is when I go up a steep hill, it dies. I can restart by choking. I believe the float needs replaced. Checked float level and it seems way too high to me. Like it is never closing off the needle valve. Should be getting plenty of gas. Seems like it is running out of gas with a full tank. Any suggestions? I must be missing something simple.
Thanks , Bigson

well since no one is responding I guess I will well my friends recon would conk out when ever riding it on woops and the choke would help when turned on but it ust ran horrible so I took the carb apart and the jets were clogged up pretty good and stuff was floating around the the bowl of the carb...so I cleaned the jets out making sure I could see through them and cleaner the rest of the carb pretty much spotless and man it ran great...so what I would do is if that gas has been sitting in there for a while its not good to keep running that through a clean carb as it could be clogging it up but if it only conks and sputters when going up hills I would have to agree the float is getting stuck and not allowing gas to get through...there should be an adjustment on the float to allow it to open and close and see if you can adjust it to make it better sounds like you are getting a lack of gas
