06 Honda recon 250 EX vy low hours just around the yard and into the woods.
Started it up yesterday with the choke closed. Ran then stalled. Opened the choke a little and restarted. Ran then stalled. Started and stalled.
Then it wouldn't run at all. Just crank.
If I close the choke, It'll backfire after cranking a lot.
Pulled the plug and cleaned.
Held the plug against engine and got spark.
Pulled off fuel line and confirmed flow.
I don't know a lot about these. Is there any other things I should check before I have to take this down somewhere?
Thanks.

There are a lot of little things that COULD be causing your starting woes. Is your air filter clean? Check the breather vent on the gas cap for any blockage. Still won't start, throw on a new plug. If that doesn't work, then drain the gas and add fresh. Putting a little gas or starting fluid down the pug hole may help. If it fores and runs for a few seconds after that, then you pretty much have it narrowed down to a carb problem at this point. A few things to check in that case would be make sure the jets are clean and open and the floats are at the proper level and not stuck. Good luck and keep us updated on your progress.

jrafter, that is way to often to be replacing a plug. There is something out of whack with your quad I would think. Could be you are using the wrong plug, the plug isn't gapped properly, there is an insufficiency in the electrical system, or your carb needs a little tweaking.
