no mud, just fields and a small track behind the house.

I doubt that its anything serious. Its probably just a little mud in between something in your suspension. More than likely your shocks.

Does this said track contian ...jumps? I half-destroyed my dad's Recon suspension (maybe the crappiest Honda ever made) on an mx track. You can easily lose shock pressure/important oil by using Honda's utility-bred shocks in anything near a competitive environment. Careful now....

I had the same problem with my 03 Foreman. I took every bolt out one at a time on the front shocks and a-arm assembly and tried every grease and lube known to man kind. The squeak aways came back after a ride or two. Then I noticed that when I tightened the top and bottom bolts down on the shocks, the bracket ears were being pulled in and compressing on the side of the rubber seals that cover the bearings, causing the rubber to squeak. The nuts that came on mine are self locking so I could loosen the bolts up just a bit without fear of it coming all the way off and releave the pressure. I haven't herd a squeak since. WEW thought I would never find it. Im not saying thats whats wrong with yours, but it sure fixed mine. Just make sure that the nuts are self locking before backing them off any. That way they can't come all the way off and cause a crash.

You just gotta love those front end squeaks. You could have a ball joint that didn't get greased properly from the manufacturer. My Rancher had the bushings in the lower shock mount rust . Cleaned, polished, and used a good waterproof grease when I re-installed them. No problems after a full season of riding since the fix.
