Actually 2 questions. My buddy has 250 that he bought new and claims its a 1984, but I can't find anything on it. I can find info on a 1985 though. My 2 questions are, was there one in 84?? and also whether its 84 or 85, what would the actual model be, ie 250 es, trx250 etc etc.? He is in need of a new tank, but everything comes up 85-87 250. He also said something about it was the 4 wheel version of the big red 3 wheeler. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

i think it could be a 85. i know there was a 1986. trx200 or 250? it is sort of a 4 wheeled big red. is has real stupid looking front suspention.

If it's not the sport model (250R), it could be a 250H which is wider and better balanced. Less roll over. That's what I have. I am never sure what year. I was told by the dealer it was an 85, but I bought it in 88. He gave me a really good deal since it sat for 3 years on the showroom floor. However, when I entered the VIN into the honda owners web site, it told me it was an 87! My owners card that came with it said it was an 86. Now I have a date for every year. :-)

They only started putting out recall notices after 2001 or so, so don't expect too much help on that model. But it will tell you what year Honda thinks the VIN was made.

 

What you've got to do is stick your nose up under the front of the wheeler and behind the bumper there is usually a sticker on the frame that will tell you what it is. If it is an '84 the sticker will say Honda 1984 TRX200 and if it is an '85-'87 it will say Honda 1985,1986,1987 TRX250 which ever year it ends up being. In 1984 the only 4 wheeler Honda made was the TRX 200 it has the same exact frame and plastic as the '85-'87 250's, it just has a smaller motor and high and low range tranni. In '86 they did come out with another Fourtrax 200 but it was much smaller and did not have racks. I hope my information has been helpful.

 

doggster is correct , i bought a 1986 Honda TRX350 foreman 4x4 in 89' ; under the front on the frame was a sticker with the date month day year of the manufacture august 1985 release date 1986 ! It was manufactured in 1985 and released as a 1986 year model , so when i needed part's it came up as a 1986 model ! Thanks everyone for all the insight!! I will be heading out tonight to check it for myself. I believe just from whats been said here and what I've found that it is probably an 85 trx250. I really do appreciate everyones input. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
