question # 1 i have owned a 2001 rubicon and a 2003 rincon both new and both kept stock. the rubicon will out climb the rincon hands down on very steep hills without flipping backward, the rubicon will navigate siddling hills best and will descend steep hills more safely. question # 2 rubicon 55mph rincon 63mph.

i hear that the rincon has a lot of torque. if you have a steep hill to climb, can you just leave it in first gear and crawl up or do you need to get a running start? have you been in a situation that you would have really needed low range?

Anyone can tell you that the Rincon is not a workhorse BUT it has 3 gears and 1st gear is plenty low enough for any situation. I can pull my 3000lb boat around the yard (although not recommended) and it does just fine. It has PLENTY of power in first gear to climb any hill. just like any quad traction would stop it not power. Its not like it will just bog down. I have never had it bog down. The Rincon is more sport than utility. It handles better than any other, very agile on tight trails, it wheelies on demand, awsome ride and its light. Just hit the throttle around turns and the back will slide right around. People that have never owned a Rincon will say its downfall is no low gear but then again they ride belt drive automatics. Go to rinconriders and read all you want to know about the rincon. There are about 3500 members there and most have the rincon. Almost all will tell you that the rincon is awsome. The rest just dont own one. You cant go wrong with teh rincon. If you want gut wrenching power then go with the can Am or BF750 but neither will give you the ride or handling of the rincon. The rincon will hang with most other big bore quads except the can am 800 and bf750.

Low gear is for towing trailers or saving your belt. If you want to mainly do work with your quad get the Rubicon. But if you like riding trails, mud running or just hauling azz on the trails then you will like the Rincon. I honestly haven't found a that I have ever needed a lower gear. I have never had mine bog down except when I forget to down shift from 3rd. Most hills I end up shifting to 2nd going up. But then I'm not a crawler either. I like to move. Take any response with a grain of salt. I own a Rincon and this is how I feel. I would not trade it for ANY other quad availible today. I would like to add a couple of others. But I would still keep my Rincon.

Oh I forgot the top speed question. But if you have an 03-05 carbed model with the new Dynatek CDI, your top speed will be over 70. EFI models around 63-65 Then the rev limiter kicks in.

My 01 Rubicon tops out between 52 and 55mph, and it will climb like a billy goat. Like the others have said, if you want more utility (Rubicon) or more sport (Rincon) Both are great quads.

I ride in the Sierra's and have encoutered many a step hill with my rincon; no stopping it. I ride with 2 660 Grizzlies, and a 450 Kodiak, there hasn't been a place that none of them couldn't make it so far. Except for a very steep, snow covered side of a mountain where the Kodiak had a little trouble. Rider, Quad, who's to say.
