what in the transmission could be making a tapping sound? and approximately how much does it cost to have one rebuilt?

 

to add to the post above.. would the rear cv joint make a ticking sound if it was to go out

 

Me and a buddy both have 06 Rancher 2X4's. They both have always had a litle "tick" that sounds like it's coming from the engine. I believe I saw a thread about that on one of the forums one time. Unless you have something weird going on I think it's just the nature of the beast. I'm going to do my third oil change soon and I'm going to give synthetic a try. I really don't think the "tick" is anything to be worried about.
