400ex smoking

Default 400ex smoking

I knowticed it smokes white smoke right away from start up. It has a WB e series. Could the valve seals be the culprit because i knowticed it takes oil to. Or could it be the rings. Thanks

ide check the rings, my 250 did that, and it was the rings.

It only smokes at startup? White smoke at start up wouldn't be anything to worry about. Are you sure it's not leaking oil from anywhere?

It smokes the whole time im riding. Im positive its not leaking oil.

When it's warmed up and warm out to? Are you sure it's white smoke?

Let me guess you have a K&N air filter on this thing. Ya sounds like the rings are worn out and the intake valves a most likey shot also.

How many times have you cleaned it? Did you know it says right on their web site that over 10 cleaning and it starts to loose it's filteration ablities. When you rebuild your 400 through that thing in the garbage. Go get a Uni or Twin Air.

I am fourwheeler tech for over 10 years and seen countless times where K&N's where the cause of engine failures. Mostly because people don't stay up on the maintince, they look good but are really dirty. The only people that really get the benift of using K&N's are races.
