Default Rincon Alignment

After 3 "rollovers" in the past 4 yrs, most recent a week ago, i'm thinking that my Fr left wheel is not in line when I straighten my handlebars, it appears to be pointing outwards just a tiny bit just by visual compared to the Right wheel which appears straight, but the bike dosen't seem to pull either when you ride it. I'm sure that left wheel is pointing outwards abit.

Is their a way to check for alignment in the wheels, handlebars, etc on the Rincon, and assumming nothing is "bent" do you think the wheels and handlebars can be brought back in line? Just like to keep the bike caught up on everything.

If you go over to rinconriders.com I think there is a place to download a manual.

Spec for an 03 is 9mm toed out, plus or minus 15mm as measured at the surface of the tread of the tires, so it could be toed out 24mm and be within spec.

Basically, you will want to make marks on the backs of the treads of the tires at a known distance apart, roll the machine till the marks are at the fronts of the tires, and measure the difference. You will need to use something of a fixed width that clears the frame, since the frame and suspension prevents measuring the width of the backs of the tires directly.

You can use a toe gauge, or if you don't have one C clamp two builder's squares together by the long ends, so that it makes kind of a C shape about as wide as the centers of the tires.

Set the clamped together squares on the ground under the machine so that the long ends are on the ground, and the short ends of the squares stick up between the fenders and the backs of the tires, so they rest on the backs of the tires. Take a pen and mark the tires along the edges of the square.

Remove the squares, roll the machine until the marks you just made are on the fronts of the tires. Set the squares on the ground in front of the machine, with one edge lined up on one of the marks. Measure the difference on the other side...

Hopefully that was half-way clear. If it's within spec, and the bar is straight when the quad is going straight on flat ground (with tire pressures correct) everything should be good.

If it's off by much, start looking for what is bent or slopped out. If you have to adjust, make equal amounts of adjustment to both tie rods. Remember one side of the tie rod is left thread.

It is very difficult to judge toe out by eyeball...

Thanks Jeffin....

Question: Is their a contact e-mail or ph# for rinconriders....? Man we have been trying to login for weeks, were getting login errors, weird e-mails, etc. from their site......very frustrating!

registration@rinconriders.com does not work, that just bounces back with errors.

Hondamechanic,

Thanks for the tip. I've usually shot for the middle of the range, or a bit on the 'less toe out' side of the range...

Maverick,

Now that you say that, I recall having problems with that page until I registered. If I remember right, I'd click on Forums and half the time it would just drop back to the main page. Once I got registered, it's been fine.

If it gives you trouble registering, try it at an odd hour (middle of the day, middle of the night). I don't see another e-mail address, or a phone number. If registering at an odd hour doesn't solve the problem, post back here and I'll PM one of the moderators there.

They have some handy information (Foreman light conversion, elimination of reverse limit, reroute vent lines to keep water out of carb, among others).
