fastest four stroke on the market?
#31
Question for all those who are holding the old 2 strokes as the fastest etc.
Are they really faster, or do they just feel that way due to the sometimes insane power band or hit that can come on all at once?
There may be no feeling like a properly tuned two stroke especially a twin (or even a triple for those others who have had luck to have ridden one like the old 750 kawi's) and they can and do make gobbs of power, but the feeling of fast is not the same as being fast (like what is found in lap times etc) and even the pro level 250cc bike racers have proven that a fast feeling two stroke can not produce the same lap times as a not as fast feeling four stroke.
Is there even anyone running two strokes anymore?
Still knowing this I think its sad that these great engines are being forced out of production, and know they will be missed.
So what is fast??

You have 2 cylinders instead of one making power. The twin 4 stroke will act more like a 2 stroke because the 2 stoke makes power every 2 strokes while a 4 stroke makes power every 4 strokes. The Banshee being a twin 2 stroke made power every stroke. Now you have a twin 4 stroke that will make powe every 2 strokes hence more torque, better acceleration and more hp. It would be interesting how they will do this and still keep it light enough to compete.

2 strokes make power every stroke, not 2, as well as 4 make power every other
and a 4 stroke twin is definatley better than a single, i got a suzuki 700 twin peaks and that thing is mad quick

the banshee 500
will be a fast bike but i dont think that much quicker
it will deff be quicker than most or even all but
not that big o diff
as far as 2-stokes go they where good achines and will be missed but im a 4-stroke kinda guy and with a 4 theres a lot less maintenence
and a way betterrrrrr sound

I personally agree with the other guy, the engine is called a 2 stroke, the exhaust stroke is the compression stroke in one and the power stroke is the intake stroke in one basically, the "4" stroke has 4 different cycles, intake/compression/combustion(power)/exhaust.
so IMO 4 strokes make power every 4th and 2 strokes make power every other.

the correct answer to this question is.....what kind of riding does he do? AND mostly.........HOW MUCH MONEY DOES HE WANT TO SPEND? you can make 450r's,yfz's,ds650's in the hight 3's in 300ft but it takes $$ to do it. just remember this....theres no replacement for displacement. if you want to go fast get it light and spend some money!
as far as the ltz450....its not the fastest now but in time it will get fast. not enought after market parts for it yet.
keep on waitin on that 500 banshee that was a prank done by dirtwheels.
there will be a new 450 out soon.....CAN AM!

If you're looking for "Banshee" fast, in my opinion, you're looking at drag races. Straight-line acceleration. I don't have any numbers for ya, but, I read on this forum a while back that one of the members who races had just posted a record run on a DS650.

haha my mistake what i read the guys wrong, what i meant to say is that a 2 stroke has a power stroke every revolution and a 4 stroke every other.. my bad
