Default fastest four stroke on the market?

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>ok, the fastest factory sport quad is the yfz 450</end quote></div>

The Yfz 450 motor is based on the Yamaha,s 450 Motocross bike engine. The 525 Outlaw has the KTM 525 motocross engine and its the fastest stock Motocross bike you can buy, so it makes sense to say......

Lots of the YamaHonda riders will never admit that a Polaris could possibly be faster, or better for the job at hand. If the tests show that they are there will always be a "I heard they run hot" etc disclaimer thrown in there. That is fine if you ride with your ego instead of your brain, and I see a lot of that, and they are usually the ones that are doing donuts in the parking lot showing off their newest latest equipment, since they have to "trade up" every time some magazine declares a new "fastest",,, unless it is a Polaris, of course. Don't see these riders on the track or the trails much.
Truth be know the fastest one on the track is probably the KTM. I don't think they have lost a race since introduced.
The fastest one as far as top speed is concerned doesn't mean squat, unless all you do is race straight line flat out, like amateurs and squids. Manufacturers don't build for that since I do't know of any sanctioned races for that venue.

You have a point there, you don't get anywhere by trashing other people's quads, and it does completely depend on how you ride. For racing, the new KTM may be the new queen bee. For trails it may be the Outlaw, or the 450r. For dunes it may be the DS650 or the Raptor. But in the end, it all depends on what the rider thinks. It tends to vary from person to person on which quad they prefer. Some people may like the plush suspension of the 450r, and some people may prefer the progressive suspension of the YFZ. In the end, its all opinion.

So nekkidbik, I see have a polaris and you have not done your homework! Yes polaris has some good quads with good suspension but think about it, they don't use their own engines in their newest sport quads(fuji 500 or ktm 525/450). And the 07 outlaw has some issues...Do you have an outlaw 525?...My brother does, and I speak with proven experience. Thats's why the ktm 525xc has a much bigger radiator than the outlaw 525... I agree that ktm is awsome. Why are you so upset about people trading up to new quads and doing donuts? Unless you got an old boot and can't do a donut. Newer and better machines come out every year. As far as my answer to the question which is the fastest four stroke...I did it with my buddies radar gun with stock quads...Drag racing is the closest way of finding who is fastest. Are you going to say that you never drag raced your quad? Sanctioned races show the better rider, anyway those quads are not even close to stock...

Drag racing shows who is the quickest, not the fastest. Acceleration is where it is at, not top speed, which is useless 99.9% of the time. Yes, I have drag raced my quad, and I can do donuts. But, let me ask you this. What good is a donut, the kind that is usually done in a crowded parking lot, done by riders that need the latest "fastest" whatever to show off with. It is not the machines that I am talking about as much as the riders.
Lots of new machines have problems. Ever hear of flexing and cracking frames on Yamaha's and Honda's sport quads?
Ever hear of transmission problems on first year Raptors?
No, I don't own a 525 Outlaw, or a 500 Outlaw.
What difference does it make that Polaris uses Fuji or KTM engines? The KTM's blow all the Japanese competiton into the weeds. Is that why you don't like it? Or is it just because it is a Polaris?

Man I like you...First off donuts are cool but not in a crowded parking lot. And second most first year quads have issues. Third I do like polaris, I was the one who bought the outlaw for him...I like hydrolic clutch...ktm engine..and IRS. The truth is I like all quads, just some more than others. As for me I change my quad every other year and usually try to get the best all around quad...As a matter of fact I am ready to buy another...I got an open mind give me your input...I live in P.R. so the new ktm won't be available till late 2008 and I need mine now. You know gotta ride

mg1quadman, I am flattered that you value my opinion, but only you can decide what works for you with the kind of riding you do. There is only one quad available with IRS and the KTM engine but since your brother owns one you probably already know if that is right for you. If not, the 700xx should be available soon. The KTM might be worth the wait? Then of course you have the Yama's, Suzi's and Kawa's.
So many quads, so little time...
It's not so much what you ride, but how you ride it.

Default fastest four stroke on the market?

its crazy to think of how meny great quads are out now. there are probaly 7-10 quads that chould be argued that they are the fastest.i think for a 4-stroke in a drag the fastest is going to be a raptor 700 or a ds650 when all the way tricked. as far a track goes the 450s when modded are all going to be about the same. as far a stock goes here my list for track.
1.KTM 450
2. Suzuki LT450R
3.Kawi 450
4.yfz450
5.honda 450
6.polaris 450

Default fastest four stroke on the market?

C'mon guys

I mean much as brand doesnt mean squat to me (I wont dis it just cause I dont like or own one etc)

and am I the only one getting this besides the guy who wrote it?

"The fastest one as far as top speed is concerned doesn't mean squat, unless all you do is race straight line flat out, like amateurs and squids. Manufacturers don't build for that since I do't know of any sanctioned races for that venue."

I've ridden with guys who could pass ya on a damn go cart, and others you could have lunch waiting for them to catch up, and top speed is never the reason.

geez

The fastest four stroke is definitely the turbo DS Busa's. LOL, I just had to add that for fun. Beside's the conversion bikes I would have to say dollar for dollar the fastest all around quad would be your Raptor 700. I'm sure the TRX700 would be way fast if they built it with a solid axle and 100 less Lbs.
