Default 01 foreman400 warn424 problem?

I have a 2001 Honda Foreman 400. My Warn 424 has had very little use. The front wheels make a noise like a ratchet or grinding sound, especially noticeable when tires are turned. I tried some cable adjustment and think the cable got kinked a small amount (from the handlebars rubbing it), right at the point where it enters the adjustment screw/activation tube. The adjustment doesn't seem to help much. How does the adjustment work? I.E.: is more of the adjustment screw out mean it's loosening or tightening the cable?

I blocked my quad and there is a long delay from when i disengage the 4x4 until the front tires finally unlock and roll free. I think it may be the cable. How is the cable to replace? Any other ideas or suggestions?

When I try to turn the tire manually in 2WD, it definitely isn't freewheeling. It's like theres some resistance, and it feels sorta like a ratchet.

please help. i read another thread about someone using a friction modifier in their front diff to fix a front end vibration problem. i know i changed my front diff fluid and never put a modifier in; only 75-90W synthetic gear oil.

I took the cable off and tried it in a "relaxed" position. it worked perfectly. I need a new cable. if anyone else reads this, www.gowarn.com seems pretty good. About $105 shipped.
