Default Installing a temp gauge 07 rancher

Hello I just brought a water temp gauge for my 07 rancher 420 4x4. I was wondering if anybody has any install tips as to how to install it? I have not looked at the instructions yet I am not sure how much use they will be since it is for a car not an atv.

Any tips wouls be great.

Thanks Mike

I was just looking at the instructions and it says "remove the water temperature sender. Remove the temperature sending unit" I just looked in the service manual and did not see either one of those in there. What is equal to those that I can use?

Thanks mike

I'll try to keep this short, to install that on the Rancher, you will need to install it in your top radiator hose by means of a T fitting.
Your Rancher manual should list the outside diameter of your radiator hose, and you should have gotten some brass threaded adapters in the package with the temp gage.

Pay a visit to a local plumbing supply store, not Home Depot or Lowe's; a real plumbing supply store. Bring your temp gage and adapters, tell them what you are trying to do; they should be able to sell you a brass T fitting to hook it all together.

Then its just a matter of wiring and mounting the gage. Your manual can help you with that, just find a circuit thats live only when the key is on.

That is probably the easiest way.
The ECT sender on the 420 is next to the spark plug in the head.
Looks like a hastle to "T" into that spot

the plumbing store that I just went to does not have any T fittings that will work. I am going to still see what I can do.

Mike

I just went 2 another plumbing store and what they had is not going to work. I am going to save it for next weekend. Anybody know if there are any out there made to work on a 4wheeler? If so what is the link to it?

Thanks mike

If your radiator hose is 3/4 inch in diameter you're in luck. www.everythingoffroad.com under Rhino Gauges & Accessories has the following:

P/N 2281-3/4 inch heater hose adapter, $39.99
P/N 9126 Temp Sending Unit $18.50
P/N 5040 Electric Water Temp Gage-Black $44.25, Platinum $47.95

I know it's pricey, but if ya gotta have it, ya gotta pay!. Plus, its simple to hook up. The sending unit screws into the adapter(I'd use some Permatex #2 Gasket Sealer from an auto parts store on the threads and ends of the adapter for leaks), reconnect the hoses; wire and mount the gage, and you're done.
