I just bought a 2001 yellow 400ex, and I got it for $5,610.00 out the door. I pick it up tomorrow and I called today to get the balance and they added 50 bucks for a dock fee, and I told them I had already made the deal for 5610 OUT THE DOOR!! They said they have a dock fee on all their bikes, and I told them I have a deal in writing for 5610 and if my bike has a dock fee I would not buy it! Well, they waived the fee.
They just tried a last minute "slide it in fee", and any dealer who says they have to get a dock fee is lying. I pick mine up tomorrow for $5,610.00, with no dock fee, no setup or any other dealership bull**** fees, if you are paying for the dealer bull**** fees, go to another dealer!
Some dealers charge over $200 to take it out of the crate, put the wheels on it and adjust the handle bars, that is what they call "setup"! Hell, for $200, just load the crate in my truck, I can do the rest!

PS I bought my bike from Andrews Honda in Salem Ohio. Salesman was Troy Ellenburger!

Yea, that was a good price. I really didn't drive a hard bargain, it actually came by accident. I called one dealer, he gave ma a price and then I called another and he said he could beat it, so I called the first and told him I was going to so and so, and he said "I can beat that price!",(I was actually talking to 6 dealers) it just kept going back and forth until one gave up. The last one that gave up told me they pay 5317 for them and they have no idea how Andrews Honda was going to do it. But, they did! I did all this right before X-mas, I don't know if they were desperate for a sale or what. Although they did try to pull a last minute "dock fee fast one", but I had put money down and got the price in writing.
Most dealers have the 400ex on sale for 5399 for the yellow (if you can get one) and about a 100 bucks less for the red. If you want one call Andrews Honda, Salem Ohio, 1-800-596-6199 ask for Troy Ellenburger
If you want to get the same deal close to where you live, I could scan my invoice when I get it so you can show you local dealer the the 400 can be sold for that price. I will send it to anyone who wants to try and save a few bucks.
