You burned out the centrifical clutch weights and drum
Edit:
For your info and others in case you did not know, one of the shift points in the 400AT at lower speeds can 'confuse' the tranny in auto mode. This in turn will cause the centrifical clutch shoes to constantly engauge or disengauge. Some it happens so quickly that they will excessive slip on the drum. Friction heats. It will groove the drum and warp it. The grooves and warping will make it worse ( the situation where it seems your brakes are locked )
I have replaced a number of parts also related that have been damaged from the heat. Centrifical clutch shoes, drum, return springs and a few sprag bearings when everything is just black from being fried.
In 2004 they had an updated ECU that had a different shift map in it that cured most of the problems. I have seen this happen on 2006 models though. I suggested to Honda that they come up with a stiffer return spring set to get the engagement of the centrifical clutch higher and away from this programed shift point. If they take note or not is up to them. They have engineeres that know more than me
