Default New Member with problem

Hi All,
I am a new member in search of some help!

My Rancher suddenly will not start - battery, cables, fuses, etc. all good. Sometimes the dash/indicator lights will come on, other times NOTHING happens. When the indicator lights DO light up, he "4x4" light on the dash blinks 4 times then stops, 4 times, then stops - continues this sequence.

I understand that this is a diagnostic indicator for one of the sensors - but not sure which one.

Last hunting season, I had a couple problems with the transmission not wanting to come out of ES mode and not shifting out of 1st gear. This happened only 2-3 times and would usually clear the problem by turning the key off then back on.

Can anyone offer insight/advice on this "diagnostic light/code" problem?

Thanks in advance,
Brenda

Thank you - I'll check the cables again to be sure (clean them).

If I put slight downward pressure on the starter solenoid, the dash/indicator lights will come on but the bike still will not start - tried jumping (by-passing) the solenoid but this did not help either. Forgot to mention this in the original post.

Still just get that "4 flash sequence" on the 4x4 indicator light...

Thank you, that would be absolutely GREAT! Truly a very nice offer from you. I look forward to hearing back from you.

BTW, I did contact me dealer about this earlier today - their answer was "can't help you unless you bring it in so we can look at it". Yeah, right....

I'm going to check on buying a Honda shop manual - just need to find the right place to do so!

Thanks again!

Repair your electrical problem first. Once you have good contact of the battery cables everywhere, the 4 code should go away. It is a system voltage error code.

If it does not go away after other electrical issuses are taken care of, clear the codes. It should not flash again.
