Default HELP! with recon 250

<h3>the previous owner put weed eater oil in it. However it had so little in it i just put regular 87 in it and it road fine for 2 hours then the throttle gave out and it sputtered and died. I cleaned the air filter, drained all gas in tank and put in 93, changed the oil, and the carborateur looks clean and the bowl was emptied. Any more ideas would be a great help because we are all out of ideas because i have limited knowledge about atvs. thanks

maybe a valve? Im not to sure but it sounds like something in the motor and not like the carb and stuff.. If you ran it with the wrong oil or something like that you could of burnt something in the motor...?

Default HELP! with recon 250

By weed eater oil, do we mean that they put gas mixed for a 2-stroke in it??? And knowing that, you rode it for 2 hours anyway??? We aren't talking weed eater oil in the crankcase, I hope.....

Carb "looks" clean....doesn't mean the jets aren't clogged up with that gooey oil.

Is the tank vent clear??? Any time I hear about fuel starvation, that is the first thing I check. You would be surprosed at how many times out on the trail that has happended and I saved somebody a tow home.....

93 octane is a waste in that motor!

ok thanks we did pump out all of the weed eater mix that we could so much that it wouldnt run without new gas. I talked to the guy i bought it from and said mabye the idle switch and/or this tiny hole might need to be cleaned. Also to try to clean this small screen in the gas line but im not sure how to do that exactly

we are in the process of changing the spark plug, anyone know where the gas filter is i cant find it?? and we tried running it on reserve and fuel on and it doesnt change just kinda sputters and cuts off when u release the throttle. we are going to clean the carb next, put on a new air filter, and clean out the gas tank

The tank vent is in the cap. The hose that comes off the top of the cap is the gas tank vent.
