try adjusting your idle.if you don't know how turn the screw on the carb. that has a spring around it.

Check for an air leak somewhere....the boot, air filter, etc. The leak is giving it to much air, but when you choke it down it makes up for the leak (?????).

i took the carb off to find crapola around the jets i cleaned all the jets and drained the gas tank and now it runs better but it acts like it wants to go slow until i choke it for 3-5 seconds then it'll take off . do i need to clean it again or is the float messed up or do i need to put a kit in the carb ? i give .

Didn't say of you checked for an air intake leak or not? This would be BEFORE the carburator, like in the rubber boot between the air filter and the carb (or even a messed up air filter).

Take off the air filter, and put your hand over the hole. Crank the engine a couple of times and it should make a vacume. The vacume should hold for a while. If it doesn't hold, you have a crack in your boot or something.....
