Recon Clutch help please
I have a 1998 Recon that seems to need a clutch. I was wondering how tough it is to replace it myself. I worked on farm tractors in the past so I have pretty good mechanical abilities, just never been into a cycle engine before. Are there any special tools I will need? I will pick up a service manual if I am going to try this myself. Just don't want to spend money on a manual if it is a big job.

Recon Clutch help please
I betcha all it needs is adjusting. If you have the manual that came with it it should tell you how. I think all you do is loosen the lock nut, turn the adjusting screw counter-clockwise till you feel it seat, then turn 1/4 turn clockwise and tighten the lock nut. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong on this.

Recon Clutch help please
Thanks guys I have adjusted it a couple times in the past but this time the engine revs quickly with very little increase in speed. My wife's quad now and we were riding at WNF last weekend she was complaining about something vibrating, I now suspect she had the engine wound tight trying to get up and down the hills. She is terrible about downshifting when needed and is always lugging the engine pretty hard. I think it is time to look inside the ole girl. This Recon has been a good one so I can not complain if I have to fix it now.
