I just got a Honda Fourtrax 2001 350 4x4 (burnt.poptart.net/4x4 dont use a www in front)
and its winter here in prince edward island (3ft of snow and more coming) and I borrowed my cousins skidoo helmet. But what about summer. I have never road in the summer and was wondering what kinda helmets/goggles to get. Also a way to make your winter helmet visor not fog up.
thanks - mitch

I use a full face helmet (chin guard)with vents and goggles. the more vents it has the more expensive it is, i think. i have the same problem with fogging. i think there is some spray u can buy for your goggles. PEI must be nice to live there!! lucky u! p.s. i see a shovel on your quad, where's the plow? hehe

Okay dude, I live in minnesota and we get snow 24/7, I have an open face helmet, HJC clx-3sn, This helmet has removable insulation, cost 125$, then i buy a pair of goggles, One that has no fogger lenses and one with off road lenses, I run with no fear goggles, 45$ for off road and 65$ for no fogger's, best way to go dude, ride safe,

Heh, PEI is a nice place. We are just getting pounded with snow . I might get a plow someday. getting a winch first. That shovel on the front is a lesson learnt the hardway. getting stuck in snow with out a shovel or a friend really sucks. Since that shovel has been on the front I havent got stuck for more than 10 mins.

I am glad you asked the question, I was just about to do the same. Now that everyone blasted me about how stupid it is to ride without one, I need to purchase a helmet. I have considered two styles, the full face with the flip down plexiglass shield and the motorcross full face style which requires you to get goggles. What are the pros and cons of each. I have found a few nice ones with the plexiglass and don't know why to pick one style over the other. However, living in the warm tropics, venilation during the summer is important.
What are your thoughts? What about brands? I have learned of Shoei, Ari, Bielle, HJC, etc.

I've got an HJC moto-cross style helmet, and it has great ventalation. I ride in 90º weather in the summer and my helmet manages to remain pretty dry and cool. My friend had a full face one with a plexi-glass shield on it, but he had problems with fogging in the summer and he whined about it being too hot all the time. So I think your best bet would be to get the moto-cross style if you want optimal cooling in the summer.

Winter: HJC heated visor. 159$ just the visor...249$ all new black helmet with visor. Plugs into special outlet like on a snowmobile and comes with the appropriate wiring to go directly to battery or hook onto existing heated handlegrips or lights...
Summer: Motocross helmet with good quality goggles.
