I found a great deal on one. Its a one owner quad with a few common problems seat cover torn, crack in plastic. But in overal great condition. What should I look for? I've never ridin a clutched quad for more than a few hours before. How can you tell that the clutch is in good condition? Any common problems?
Looking to pick up tomorrow.
Thanks!

I had one.they are bullet proof.Only problem I ever had was rear axle bearings.back when I had mine you could replace them yourself for about $60.the way to check them is to stand on footpegs and rock side to side while someone watches where your axle goes through the axle and bearing carrier.there shouldnt be any slack between the axle and the carrier while your rocking it.for the clutch, just ride it and if the motor revs up but the bike dont seem to pull good then the clutch is shot.but a clutch is nothing major to replace.their not the fastest sport quad but their fun, they run about like a blaster.I personally think they handle real good, you can really kick em around good

If the rear axle bearings get too bad you're looking at replacing the swingarm. I replaced one for a friend of mine several years ago that had bearings that were obviously worn but not scary using Qwoders test. ONce it was apart the whole swingarm was egg shaped inside and unusable.

I dont see how it could mess up the whole swingarm. The bearings and axle are in a bearing carrier that slides into the swingarm.I have replaced that bearing carrier and it was expensive.I think $175.it was my fault though for running bad bearings too long.I'm not saying it couldnt mess up the swingarm but I am curious how it did.

It was a combo of two problems. The egg shaped carrier coupled with the looseness of the bolts holding the carrier to the swingarm. It wore the holes out beyond repair which was not visible until removing the carrier.
Probably a one in a millon problem.

I ended uo picking the 250x up today. And couldn't be hapier. Its from the original owner and he had every reciept since new. All bushings were just replaced in both front and rear including new chain and sprockets and new tires. All for a grand. One neat feature that the guy added was a Break light switch. So that it works like a modern quad. I didn't get to ride it much today just to cold.
