Default 440ex leaking at base gasket

I just trade a old 4x4 pickup for 2003 400ex with a 440 kit a stage 2 hotcam. the work was done right before i got it. I just have gotten where i could ride it and have notice oil around the base of the cylinder. Do you have to do a complete tear down to tighten the cylinder bolts. I think it could be leaking around the timing chain tension but it is hard to tell. And do I have to use a 440 topend gasket kit or will the stock one work.

you will have to clean it off really well to find out where the oil is comming from and if it is comming form the tensioner that is a quich fix but if it is the base gasket you will have to use a big bore gasket kit and it is a compleat top end tear down to do that and be careful on what type of gasket you use because it it is a cheep one you will blow the head gasket if you have a high compression pistion the best place i found to get one it www.rittercycle.com and you might have to call but the # is on the web site hoe this helps

Just like anything in a engine. If you use it once, you gotta replace bearings and seals, and gaskets if you wanna do it right!

If you have new gaskets, put them on and make sure that you torque the head right. It should be 33ft pounds for the head bolts, and cap bolts!!

Hope this helps!!
