I just got new bearings today but I havent put them in yet....

I have no clue what way they go in...there is a clear side of each of the 2 rear bearings, does the clear side point to the outside or inside??

Are you suppose to put grease in the rear bearings??(I would think so, just checking)

Best way is to look at the old ones and how they are installed. If it is too late for that...look at the bearing carefully. It should slant so that one side is slightly smaller than the other. Small side goes to inside. Definitely want to grease before installing.

To: Mudslinger...

You don't need to look at the bearings unless the axle moves up and down, which means you need new ones...here's how you take the rear end apart...

Their are 2 nuts on the axle on the right side while your looking at it....1 is bigger than the other...first take the wheel off, then the wheel hub, un-do the axle nuts, then loosen the bolts around the brake housing, then the housing should come off, then their is a hub, it should come off too(by just sliding it off), before you slide the axle out the left side you have to take off the skid plate(if it has one), then the chain and sprocket,
Now you can slide the axle out and you should see the seals first then the bearings and their is a long sleve that goes inside the axle housing too.
Take out the bearings if it needs new ones...put new ones in, and pack it with grease.

To put the rear end all back together, just do the oppisite above^^, but remember to put that sleve around the axle and in between the bearings.

I would copy and paste the above to a typing page and print it out if you are planning on doing this to your ATV...mudslinger.
