Ok I give up. I am going to throw my brothers 400EX in the dumpster. Here is the problem, there are two bolts that hold the oil filter cover on the motor. A short blot, and a long bolt. Who ever put the last filter on the bike stripped out the threads in the motor case on the long bolt. I went to yell at my brother about it and he said, (and I quote) "Theres a oil filter on my bike?"......... Thats why I am the wrench in the family. Ok so far all I have done is use some thread repair epoxy, (which sounds like a scrub move but it has worked for me in the past) and once that was set some medium thread locker. We went out last weekend and now the bolts just gone. The repair didnt work very well, due to the treads being sooo deep. Ok save for tearing down the engine, stripping the block to rethread it or replace that case what do I do now. I thought about just tapping some threads in the clutch coverand putting a short bolt in there, but I am afraid of splitting the cover. I dont have much hair left to pull out over this, what do I do now?!?!?!

 

get 6m heli-coils. there everywhere. on ebay, or even HELI-COIL.com. this should help.
