Default 250x float

I've got a '90 250x that's running too rich and gas drips from the overflow. I took the carb apart, turned it upside down and the float hit the body of the carb and I can still move the needle up farther in the carb. I was going to adjust it but it's plastic so I guess I have to replace it. Anybody know a cheaper place to get one other than Honda?

I am having the same issue. I went to a local repair shop and the guy told me that even though the float is plastic it still has like a a c-clip adjustment you just cant see it. it is up inside. You have to take the thing apart from the top. Not sure how accurate this is but worth a shot. Havent done it myself yet cause the dang screw that holds it in is stripping as I attempt to take it out. Let me know. Mine is a 1992 250x and leaks when the fuel is left on. I have just been shutting it off.

Well somebody has been into this one and apparently left the clip out. When the float hits the carb body you can push the needle on up in the seat. Do basic kits usualy have this clip?

Not sure what you mean by basic kits. Rebuild kits? I have encluded a link to oem site so you can see what I am talking about. Its #2 has a clip that can be moved up and down to allow for float adjustment.

That #2 is the needle, and has nothing to do with the float level
Seems to me the carb rebuild kits dont have floats or that stainless clip. Unfortunetly, I think its a dealer item only. You can shop around but that 30 dollar price is about normal. You could look on ebay for a used carb..and just use the parts off of it.

Yea hes right. glanced at it quickly. I just know that I spoke to a local repair shop who deals with these carbs all the time and he told me that you could adjust the float by that clip. he said it has notches where you can move it up or down.
