2000 Foreman 400
#1
My 2000 Foreman 400 has its first major issue. Right at 10,000 miles.
I was riding yesterday and without any abnormal sounds, it quit downshifting. I am thinking mine is in 3rd gear but not sure. It seems to be able to upshift and then downshift back to where it is at but no further. If I am moving and try to downshift it will make a little jerk like it is trying but it doesn't actually go down a gear. I got down on my knees and listened as I work the shifter with my hand. You can hear it making the shifting sound- clink-clink-clink- each time you push it down, but its not shifting.
What do you all think I am in for?

Have you adjusted the clutch lately???? Procedure is in your owner's manual.
It may just be a worn out clutch. They are disposable items, and need to be replaced now and then. Or, you could have some other more major tranny issues....

I hope that is all it is, I have my doubts about the adjustment since it happened all at once, but anything is possible. Major tranny issues are gonna equal major down time for me! LOL I don't have the funds for that right now.
