I just bought a 01 300 EX and I love it. But my problem is when I really sheer down on the throttle it just looses power and does nothing. It idles fine and cranks easy with no issue. I replaced the spark plug from Honda (ngk Dr8ES-L) and it has a clean air filter. I run 93oct. Any thoughts?

 

I know this sounds basic, but make sure your choke is all the way off. (all the way in the rear position) I had a buddy who has been riding for years change his jets on a trip to colorado because of the same situation. After all was changed, he realized the choke was a little open. Wasted half a day of riding, not to mention that we have a hard time letting him forget it.

 

Yeah one of my friends that was riding with me thought that the choke was on but that was not it. The choke is really off.

 

does it pop and crack @ WOT? any mods? does it die when you do a wheelie? need more description of problem

 

It doesn't so much pop/crack..... but rather sputters like it is losing fuel or spark. I can give up to about 70% throttle and almost full throttle if I really ease into it. But it still starts to sputter. As far as wheelie's go it just sputters out when I try.

 

The accelerator pump housing might be plugged up with setiment, or the rubber diaphram might be ripped or pinched.
