What oil do you use in your Honda?
#1
More specifically what brand and weight? I know there are oils specially designed for ATV's but I've read that certain kinds are not good for manual clutch bikes. As long as it's geared toward a 4 stroke engine, is it ok to use?

Just don't use any type of oil with the "energy conserving" logo on the back, not good for wet clutches.
Reconranger will chime in on here soon to give you the low-down, but find an oil you feel comfortable with and stick with it. I perfer the syn oils over dino's.

I used Amsoil 0w-40 sythetic in all our atvs but like posted above, kinda pricey.
I switched all to Shell Rotella 5w-40 in the blue jug. Find it at Wally world fairly cheap.
Works in all my atvs and motorcycles.

I just bought royal purple motorcycle/ATV 10-40w for my new rancher. Never tried royal purple before but I hear good things. Its also pricey at $10 a qt. but I got lucky and got it for 7.50 a qt since they marked the price wrong. Also putting synthetic 75-90 oil in the rear and a new iridium NGK plug in.

Thanks tramp. I knew there were special instructions regarding the clutch. I guess I'll look for some decent 10w 40 without the logo. Do automotive stores carry some that fit these specs or do I need to look elsewhere?

Rotella T synthetic 5W-40, have used in Yamaha, Honda, and Honda MC. 17$/gallon at Walmart or AAP. M1 high Mileage synthetic 10 W 40 in a old Yamaha that weeped the Rotella at the jug base. No wet clutch issues with either one.
Are they as good as motorcycle/ATv specific oil, ? Don't know, but I got the tip at a Honda motorcycle website, and they work for me.
good luck.
