05 Rancher AT ES 4x4 not shifting
I have the same machine (05 Rancher 400AT) and exactly the same symptoms as herby posted. I also notice that if I stop fully when the problem occurs then the ES motor will sound and the shifting gets back to normal. It is like the ES needs to catch up. It only happens at low speeds in auto shift mode. I had been doing some towing before the problem started but it was just a brush mower.
My angle sensor checks out ok and no issues with re-initializing. Oil is also fine. All electrical connections are good. One of the posts I read suggested it may also be battery related? Battery seems strong - no problems starting. Any other suggestions? Are there any tests for the ES motor itself?
Thanks!

The 400 FA has a TOTALLY DIFFERENT GEARBOX TO THE 350ES so forget everything in this thread and start your own, or read the hundreds of posts about 350ES and 450ES and 420ES machines on here. On the 350ES a rotary switch in the gearbox switches with each gear to a separate wire, the whole bunch of wires go to the speedo where they signal the gear indicator display and the neutral and reverse lights. If the switch goes wrong and is always showing neutral this would disable the gearbox as described, one gearchange then the fault code should come up in Morse code on the display. However this doesn't explain no electric start. Try removing the three pin diode, it is a small black box in the fuse box,
