Anyone actually have to use them on their Hondas? I've got a Recon and a Rancher that no matter if it is winter or summer they always start right up.

 

It is necessary to use the enrichment **** on my Foreman, and my buddy's 650 Rincon also requires use of the **** to start when cold...

It doesn't usually require full choke, and I get the impression that if a person set the idle a little faster than spec, or richened the pilot jet a bit, it wouldn't be needed.

 

My Foreman requires the choke to start but it doesn't stay on very long and it's ready to go, unless it's really cold.
My Rancher starts right up every time... but it doesn't have a choke [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] It's fuel injected!

 

Yeah, the 680 Rincon starts instantly w/o choke, for the same reason...

A really dirty air cleaner might also be a cause for a motor to start w/o choke when it shouldn't...

 

when starting in -15F, i need the choke and the prime button LOL
