Default 2002 Rancher

I have a 02 Rancher ES and I am experiencing a whine in 5th gear only. 1st thru 4th are fine but as soon as I enter 5th there is a distinct whine that is speed relative. Anybody else hearing the same thing?

Mine does sort-of. It makes a Jetson's car sound in 5th. No bad effects from 2200 miles like this. My guess is it's normal or at least acceptable

I had a 250 sportrax that used to do it in top gears, I guess its just the way they are made.

Mine has whined in the higher gears since day one. Is this something that just started happening????

We had a 2003 Rancher foot shift that did the same thing, brought it in, they said that it was normal!! Which I thought was odd. But we never had any problems.

I just purchased the wheeler with 700 miles on it so I dont know how long its been making the noise. Previous owner said he has never really paid attention enough to notice. Maybe I am being to worried abt my new toy.

My '05 Rancher ES makes more of a whistling noise in 5th gear, but only fifth gear. Because overall vehicle speed is typically greater in 5th gear, I thought it might have something to do with increased air flow through the front of the ATV (???).
