Cool pics. Where is Buckeye Lake? We have this small lake up here that is frozen, but I am too chicken to ride on it (Lake Erie). I see you had the SP and the Ex, did you bring the wife along to take pictures

Magnum, Buckeye Lake is about 25-30 minutes east of Columbus, out I-70. It's near Millersport. It's really a big pond. Average depth in the summer is 5-6 feet. It's pretty shallow. The water level was way down for the winter. The one picture that we were ramping off of was a big rock that had busted the ice when the water levels had dropped so much. It was fun though, wide open in 5th gear on the EX across virgin snow on ice was a wild ride, you feel it getting a little wiggly.
The wife didn't go, I "got one by the goalie" (She's pregnant, due May 27th) so she's not riding much these days. A guy that lived on the lake invited us out, so he rode the SP335. He loved it. Top speed was about 35-36 mph, HA!
I don't think I would ride on Lake Erie either after hearing about those fisherman getting stranded on a huge ice chunk that broke off from the rest of the ice.

You people have no slush on your lakes? Every lake we have been on this winter has a foot of it,it's a real drag.

we had an extremely cold December. It was below 30 for a long time with lots of single digits days. That had everything frozen really good. Now January is different, it's been warmer than December. ?? I heard up in Canada when the lakes get 2-3 feet of ice they drive semi trucks across them to save travel distance. True?

Doogie, do you realize you're trying to ask a question in a thread that is over 13 years old? A lot of guys don't stay that long on the forums. Try posting your question with the name of the lake, and the state, in the "Where to ride" part of the forum.

Hey Buckeye, I grew up in Newark and spent many summers at Buckeye Lake and remember being pulled on a runner sled by go-carts with studded tires when the lake would freeze.
