You need to get the temp checked. Cheap way is get a old candy thermometer. But you were the one that said it smoked a towel and that has to be above 300

my 300ex is completely stock so the jets are stock but i was going to get an hmf sport series exhaust for it and change the jetting but i am not sure i want to because its so dang hot. i have had about five people tell me that my 300 being that hot is normal and about five tell me its going to blow up if i keep riding it so i dont know what to do

I just rebuilt one of mine with high comp piston and wanted to make sure oil pump was working good so I took off valve adjustment cover and started it to make sure it was oiling good it should spit out oil if it is .Like I said before I have two 300exs and we were riding yeasturday and when we got done you cant put your hand on bottom case they are to hot.Hope this helps. If you have a candy term. check temp and I can check mine and let you know

every 300 i know runs pretty hot.. one way to solve this is put an oil cooler on it.. get an old tranny cooler (small one) and rig it up to the oil pump line that runs to the rockers. seen plenty of people doing that.. if you purchase one they are a bit pricey. not too much work and a few bucks and you can make one work.
